Mariposa Schools held a multi-agency safe schools town hall meeting on March 6, 2018. This was a great opportunity for the community to provide feedback and ask questions. The power point presentation from this meeting is provided here for your review.

We have updated the routes for the opening of Yaqui Gulch and the Indian Peak Bridge. This is posted on our webpage and Facebook page.
The following changes will be made effective Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Bus stops along Hwy. 49 N. from Mariposa to Mt. Bullion will be moved from Route 4 to Route 7. This means that ALL existing stops on Route 7 will be picked up 10 minutes earlier in the morning and dropped off 15 minutes later in the afternoon. The times for the bus stops along Hwy. 49 N that were moved to Route 7 will not change. Please refer to the route listings below for exact stop times.
On the morning of April 10, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office learned that Mariposa County Unified School District Superintendent’s Office (MCUSD) received an email from an unknown person who threatened to bring a gun and bombs to school to harm students and staff. The email MCUSD received was generic and did not include specific school site details. MCUSD contacted the Sheriff’s Office immediately after reading the email.
Yesterday multiple school districts throughout California received generalized email threats that were made from a known hacking group called ApophisSquad. At this time the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office believes MCUSD was one of those districts. The email MCUSD received is identical to the others received by other school districts.
The AposhiSquad group has been targeting schools in the United Kingdom over the past few weeks and has announced they are starting to target schools in the United States. ApophisSquad claims to be a “Team of people running around the internet” based in Braubunden, Switzerland, according to their Twitter page.
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office does not have any information at this time that this email threat is credible and actually targeted at MCUSD schools. With the information we have, there is no reason to believe that anyone's safety is threatened at any of the school sites in Mariposa County. At this time our investigation points to this current threat as just one of many unfounded threats received nationwide in the recent months.
The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are continuing to investigate.

While this threat appears to be a hoax, please rest assured that MCUSD takes all such potential danger seriously. Though always vigilant, staff has been alerted to be extra aware and observant to anything out of place. You can assist as well. Anytime you see or hear something of concern, say something. Report it to the school administration, school staff or Sheriff's Office.

Due to the road closure on Triangle Road, the following will be the drop off times in the afternoon for all Jerseydale students for March 28 and March 29, 2018:
4:00pm 6256 Jerseydale Road
4:05pm Scott Road @ Best Road
All students will board their normal bus at their site and transfer to Route 8 at the Woodland transfer at 3:45pm. Route 8 will then deliver the students to Jerseydale.
Route 9 - Catheys Valley / Yaqui Gulch / Old Hwy.
Reason: Yaqui Gulch Rd. closure
Changes: AM - The Owens Creek Bridge on School House Rd. has been repaired. However, Yaqui Gulch Rd. is now closed from Prairie Ln. to Live Oak Rd. The bus will depart Mariposa 10 minutes earlier than normally scheduled. The bus will stop at it's normal stops in Catheys Valley 10 minutes earlier than normal (See Route Listing Below). An additional stop will be added at McKay Hall at 6:30 A.M. The bus will return to town and then go down Old Hwy. to Yaqui Gulch. The only bus stop for Yaqui Gulch Rd. will be at the intersection of Old Hwy. and Yaqui Gulch. That bus stop time will be 6:55 A.M.
Changes: PM - Route 9 will drop off along Ben Hur Rd. then take Buckeye Rd. to Old Hwy. Bus stop at Old Hwy. & Yaqui Gulch Rd. will be at 3:35 PM. The bus will then take Old Hwy. back to Hwy. 49. It will then go down Hwy. 140 to Catheys Valley. Students that normally ride Route 4 to the Oasis and along Hornitos Rd. need to use Route 9. A stop was added at the Oasis on Route 9 with a stop time of 4:10 PM.
Route 3 - Greeley Hill
Reason: Hwy. 49N and Hwy. 132 closures
Changes: AM - A bus will pick up students at the Greeley Hill True Value at 5:25 AM and will continue to Coulterville park with a pick up time of 5:40 AM. The bus will continue to Hwy. 132 and Piney Creek Rd. to transfer with the bus that goes to MCHS. PM - A bus will meet the LDP bus at Piney Creek Rd. and bring students to Coulterville Park and Greeley Hill True Value. Coulterville park stop time will be at 5:00 PM and Greeley Hill True Value at 5:20 PM.
Route 3 stops along Bear Valley Rd. and Hwy. 49N south of Bear Valley will be moved to Route 4 with no change in bus stop times.
Route 1 – GH Elementary/CHS
Reason: Hwy. 132 Washout / Road Closure
Changes: AM - Bus will depart LDPE and use Granite Springs Rd. to bypass washout. All bus stop times will remain the same. PM – Bus will return to LDPE via Granite Springs Rd. No stop times will be effected.
Route 2 – LDP Elementary
Reason: Hwy. 132 Washout / Road Closure
Changes: AM – Bus will use Granite Springs Rd. to bypass washout. Times will remain the same unless further advised.
Route 3 – Greeley Hill to MCHS
Reason: Hwy. 49 N closed from Bear Valley to Coulterville
Changes: See changes listed in 3/26/18 update above.
Route 4 - LDP to MCHS
Reason: Hwy. 132 Washout / Road Closure and Hornitos Rd. Closure
Changes: AM – Bus will arrive at the first stop (Piney Creek) at the regularly scheduled time. The bus will take a different route after the town of Hornitos to the high school which will be on Bear Valley Rd. to Hwy. 49 N. For stops along Hornitos Rd. in Catheys Valley, see Route 9.
Route 5 – High School Transfer / Indian Peak Rd.
Reason: Bridge Closure on Indian Peak @ Hirsch Rd.
Changes: The bus route will be the same as it was last year when the bridge was out. Indian Peak to Oak Grove Rd., turn around, back to Hwy. 49 S to Woodland School. After transfer, drop off on Hirsch Rd. Any Woodland students going to Hirsch Rd. must ride bus into town and then back out to Woodland and dropped off with High School students.
Route 9 – Catheys Valley
Reason: Hornitos Rd. Closure / Yaqui Gulch Rd. Closure
Changes: See changes listed in 3/26/18 update above.
Route 11 – Indian Peak
Reason: Bridge Closure on Indian Peak @ Hirsch Rd.
Changes: AM - The bus route will be the same as it was last year when the bridge was out. Indian Peak to Oak Grove Rd., turn around, back to Hwy. 49s to Woodland School. Students on Hirsch Rd. will need to use Woodland School as bus stop. Departure time from Woodland is 7:25 A.M. if they are going into town.
Route 12 – Indian Peak / Ponderosa Basin
Reason: Bridge Closure on Indian Peak @ Hirsch Rd.
Changes: PM - The bus route will be the same as it was last year when the bridge was out. Indian Peak to Oak Grove Rd., turn around, back to Hwy. 49S and continue route. Hirsch Rd. students will use Route 5.
North County Late Run
Reason: Hwy. 132 Washout / Road Closure and Hornitos Rd. Closure
Changes: Only bus stop will be at Lake Don Pedro Market at regularly scheduled time.
Due to the unfortunate flooding, damage to roads and bridges, and other unsafe conditions resulting from the weather conditions we experienced on March 22nd and the ongoing concern for community safety, it was necessary to postpone the Professional Development inservice planned for MCUSD staff today. The result of which is that we have had to make the following adjustments to the school calendar:

March 30th will become a non-student day allowing for staff to participate in the postponed Professional Development day.

April 30th will now become the make-up snow day (for February 23rd), so will become a regular school day for students and staff.
We would like to thank the Mariposa Sheriff’s Department for monitoring and notifying the School District of the impending emergency probability. We would also like to thank all the MCUSD Staff as always for putting students safety first and coming together to make sure all made it home safely.
